Hello.
It's me.
I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to read.
To go over everything.
They say writing's supposed to heal ya.
But I ain't done much writing.
And Scene.
If you're reading this right now, there is a pretty good chance that we know each other in some capacity - family members, coworkers, friends, old high school acquaintances (it's ok, I stalk you on social media, too). But, there is also a miniscule chance that this humble blog of mine has made its way into the hands of a stranger (the world wide web is bizarre!).
So, with that in mind... as I sit down, reinvigorated and recommitted to my blogging life (a Blog Grand Re-Opening, if you will) I feel there is no better place to start than from the beginning:
Introductions.
I am Jessica and this is my little corner of the internet - a random collection of anecdotes, musings, and scribbles from my head and heart.

On a side note... look how happy I was when it was warm and sunny and I could wear pretty, teal maxi skirts.
Denver pretty much looks, and feels, like this now. Cold, snowy and miserable. Don't let my smile fool you. I was only happy because we were going to get donuts:
The purpose of this little blog is to offer me an outlet, both creatively and emotionally, to wrestle with all that life tends to throw at us. And my hope is that along the way, as you watch me grapple with issues like: moving beyond perfectionism, ditching the people-pleasing, learning what it means to be a wife, figuring out homeownership, and things of the sort, that you might be able to relate. After all, aren't big issues easier to face when you know you're not the only one? I think so. If you want to jump right in, check out some past posts I have done on those issues here, here, and here.
So, that's why I use this space - a window into my world and soul. And, if nothing else... to hopefully make you laugh.
I'm glad you're here. Let's do this!
HIS daughter. his wife. their teacher.
Those three little statements up there are what I would say define me most.
I am first, and foremost, the daughter of an amazing, grace-filled God. A God who saved me when I was at my worst and a God who has proven time and time again to be faithful - more on that later.
I am also the wife to an amazing, grace-filled husband. A husband who chose me when I was at my worst and has proven time and time again to be my best friend, my biggest cheerleader, and the funniest person I know. Brady and I have been married for 2 years, just bought our first home, and are learning daily what this whole "marriage" thing looks like - more on that later.
Additionally, I am a Language Arts Teacher. I am the mama hen to 120 middle school chicks. Yes, they are as awkward and quirky as you are probably imagining, but man... those kids remind me daily what innocence, and perseverance, and joy look like. All of that from a job. Bonus. - More on that later.
So, there you have it... me and this little blog defined in less than 500 words. Not too shabby. And I am assuming, if you are still reading (or mindlessly scrolling), I haven't completely scared you off. So, be sure to check back early this week for a little tour of the new house we just bought!
In the meantime, get a further look into my life on
Instagram (@jessvd324). I promise lots of pictures of wine and house renovations, sometimes together... if you're into that sort of thing.
